Over Easter weekend, when my parents were in town, we worked on repainting our dining room chairs. (You may remember the sneak peek I gave you last week!) They were previously a wood finish, but I asked my mom and dad to help me create a patina finish for the chairs. My mom has done a number of patina finishes on things in her own home but also found some inspiration from Pinterest to gather ideas for the finish on my chairs. If you're interested in doing something similar, check out her Pinterest page for ideas!

My dad sprayed the base coat on the chairs, and my mom and I spent Easter weekend doing a paint finish on them. The upholsterer did a fabulous job covering them, attaching the seat cushion, and embellishing them with a solid cording and brushed chrome nail heads.
Can anyone spot the subtle change we made in our bedroom yesterday?
As I mentioned yesterday, our painters came to paint our kitchen cabinets grey. They stayed until past 8pm, and our kitchen cabinets are now finished!
As a reminder of what the kitchen looked like before:
Here are some progress pictures as they were hard at work:
And by the end of the night, our cabinets were all the Benjamin Moore Silver Lake that I found on Pinterest.
I am so pleased with the results! As you can tell in the pictures above, they removed the silver tile that was previously above the stove so that our new backsplash can be put in.
As the end of the day was approaching and we saw the new look of our cabinets, we quickly realized that the old knobs and pulls were not going to work with the grey paint. We rushed over to Elliot's Hardware to get new brushed nickel knobs and pulls.
A few other updates that happened yesterday include:
Our entry way
As for today, I am flying to my hometown of Harlingen for the day so Rodney is in charge. He will be hanging a few things that we discussed before I left and doing some raking and trimming in the backyard. Also, the painters will be returning to paint the baseboards and the doors in the master bath from dark burgundy to white.
We are loving the tweaks that we have made so far to make this house our own. It was a beautiful house before that had been meticulously restored two years ago so it has been very easy to simply add a few finishing touches to help everything look just right with our things.
The title of today's post is exactly how I'm feeling - I am in LOVE with this house! Here are a few updates on what's happening in the Frye house today:
So that's what's currently going on in the Frye home today! Of course, I'll continue to update y'all as we make more progress (especially after our kitchen is painted), and until then, we'll be busy getting things settled and enjoying our new house! :)
Over the past few months, I have really enjoyed getting to start planning for our new house. Pinterest has been a great place for us to find inspiration, especially for our new kitchen.
After seeing Sarah Richardson's beach cottage kitchen, I knew I would like a similar backsplash for our kitchen.
We started hunting for a similar tile to the one in Sarah's kitchen. We found so many great tiles as we started our search, but none of them were exactly what we were looking for.
We were on a mission to find Sarah's backsplash. My mom and I looked high and low online, and I even watched an episode of her show, hoping she might reveal where she got that tile. Even Rodney got in on the search, looking at tile stores in Dallas. Finally, I went to her website, looked through the resources from her cottage makeover, and found the match! I immediately pinned the source so we wouldn't lose it.
The tile was the Marble Mosaics Sunflower pattern from Saltillo Imports. After Rodney persistently called the offices in Indianapolis and Toronto for a week, the tile is finally on its way.
I was also inspired when I saw these gray kitchen cabinets. I discovered that they were Benjamin Moore's Silver Lake shade, which turns out to be one of Nate Berkus' "go-to" grays!
So after finding inspiration on Pinterest for both our backsplash tile and paint and finding the exact matches, we are thrilled to add these details to our new kitchen. I can't wait to share the finished product once we make the changes!
